Master's Creatures Bios
Shag-Grin
The Shag-Grin has been a danger to travelers on Eternos for as long as the creature was first discovered. A fearsome beast that is covered from head to tail with purple fur. The Shag-Grin survive in cave dwellings of mountainous regions, hidden valleys and sometimes fringed climates. A territorial as well as resourceful beast of habit the Shag-Tooth is not friendly to trespassers of its domain. The Shag-Tooth will give little to no warning before it attacks intruders in its territory. Shag-Grins are even more aggressive toward another Shag-Grin. Once a Shag-Grin attacks it will fight to the finish. The carcass of a Shag-Grin kill will be placed on display as a warning to others. Though before that the Shag-Grin will feast on the entrails of its victim.
Most of the Shag-Grins time is spent in caves, where it will use its razor-sharp claws to dig for insect grub to eat. The Shag-Grin has a long tongue that can scoop up mounds of meal worms as well as other insects to devour them whole.
The long toothy grin of the Shag-Grin shows off its bladed rows of teeth as well as its more prominent two-saber toothed front fangs. When in the mood to hunt the Shag-Grin will travel far away from its home territory to seek out prey such as wild boar, deer and sometimes livestock on farmland.
A row of bone spines reaches down the top of the Shag-Grin all the way to the tip of its purple furred tail. As if the creature's thick purple tail wasn't dangerous enough in combat the added bone spines make it a lethal weapon. The spines on the Shag-Grin make it very hard for another attacker to jump into its back in combat.
Shag-Grins do not like large bodies of water for some reason. They will drink from underground water holes but are wary of large lakes and rivers.
A Shag-Grins sense of smell allows it to track down prey from many miles away. In cold climate, the Shag-Grin will bury a recent kill under the ice so that it will keep refrigerated. In this way can the Shag-Grin store meat to eat later on, when it uses its snout to relocate it. The Shag-Grin can store fat between meals for a long time. In times of scarcity, the Shag-Grin can slow down its own metabolism, so it doesn't expend all its energy. In preparation for this hibernation the Shag-Grin will rig the inside of its cave in such a way as to warn it of intruders. A common rigging that the Shag-Grin makes is a called a 'Rock Trigger'. The 'Rock Trigger' is a hollowed-out hole at the entranceway of a cave that is filled with many tiny rocks that are stuck together with dry mud. When an unsuspecting visitor enters the cave steps on the rocks near the hollowed-out hole those rocks will loosen the ones in the wall because they are connected. If enough pressure is applied from stepping on the rocks a rockslide will occur. Once the rockslide is triggered the unsuspecting visitor is in grave danger from an awakened Shag-Grin who hasn't eaten in a long while.
The Shag-Grin is so ferocious that on one occasion the creature turned on the Beastman who is renowned for his ability to control all manner of savage beast on Eternos with few exceptions. The Shag-Grin being one of those exceptions.
