First Contact
(Chapter 1)
The Rainbow Explorer, a spacecraft that would eventually connect Earth with another planet housing intelligent life. For the pioneers, the astronauts aboard the NASA spacecraft, it did. However, unbeknownst to those very same astronaut's friends and relatives and all of the inhabitants of the planet Earth, it did not. For the Rainbow Explorer never came back. All contact with the Rinbow Explorer was lost. The spaceship never returned to Earth, to provide the evidence that saw them interacting with another kind of life form. Or a picture of them on another planet millions of lightyears away. A planet which was like Earth, not even remotely. That was the sensationalized part of the mission. The one layed out by the press. The astronauts aboard the Rainbow Explorer did achieve that which was deemed impossible. The odds were against them from the inception of NASA's plan. A far less sensationalized plan than the press would lay out. A plan that involved not only spotting a needle in space called an Einstein Rosen Bridge but even more improbable actually entering one. For which they were forbidden to do. Mostly, the reality of the mission (the one specified by NASA) was simply to get close enough to the phenomena of an Einstein Rosen Bridge. Send a probe through it. Then wait for a signal on the other side. Then return home. A proposed two-year mission that everyone expected would end upon the voyagers of the Rainbow Bridge making a glorious return to their home. That was enough because that was all that was expected of them.
The driven astronauts of the Rainbow Explorer from day one of recruitment into NASA's space program were told to defy the odds. So, thats what they were determined to do.
In particular, the phenomenal pilot, Lieutenant Glenn, who was always defying the odds since her time in the AirForce. She was even more driven, upon being chosen for her mission to investigate the Einstein Rosen Bridge aboard the Rainbow Explorer. The only other women aboard of the Rainbow Explorer was as equally driven was Captain Powers. A prominent astronaut who not only chose Lieutenant Glenn as pilot but had it in her mind that Glenn would pilot the Rainbow Explorer through the Einstein Rosen Bridge. Where a new world would be found. Another world which supported life.
The only other astronaut aboard the Rainbow Explorer that Captain Powers chose for the mission was the ships impersonal navigator, chief physicist, Doctor T.E. Scope. The last astronaut aboard the Rainbow Explorer was one in which Captain Powers had resoundingly fought against. The son of the billionaire Rex Beastman, the man who continually promoted as well as funded the Rainbow Explorer's mission. An adventurer as well as television star with countless allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct, Biff Beastman the son of Rex Beastman was bestowed the privilege of being 4th astronaut aboard the Rainbow Explorer.
Not long after entering the Einstein Rosen Bridge, for which they were forbidden to enter. All four aboard the Rainbow Explorer awakened slowly after the spaceship crash landed on what truly was...another world.
Lieutenant Glenn had gone unconscious not minutes after safely landing the Rainbow Explorer on the new world. The only reason that all four astronauts were still alive was because of not only Glenns expert piloting but her indomitable determination. The beautifully brave Glenn was not only the only one conscious after entering this new planet's atmosphere, but she was the only one capable enough to see it through. Now, in Her resting unconscious state, while undoubtfully due to her over exertion and stress was well deserved none the less.
There was an acrid burning smell that was coming from underneath the metal floor of the ship.
The foul smell was entering the nostrils of the other three astronauts. The irritating odder was waking each of the three astronauts as one by one they were coming to.
Biff Beastman growled as he awoke from the taste of the acrid burning. Then he tried to spit the awful taste out once he was awake. Though not quite fully awake yet.
Captain Powers was willing herself out of her unconscious state as she cursed the smell of the acrid burning. Her head and shoulders where heavy as her head lilted.
T.E. Scope laboriously pulled himself back from being unconscious. Where he methodically looked around the deck of the ship. T.E, Scope did not even seem that bothered by the burning smell that was rising up from underneath his seat.
The most agitated from not only the acrid burning but of being strapped down in their seat was Biff Beastman. The brawny red headed Biff tore apart the straps that held him firmly in his seat. Biff was relieved to be out of his chair as he franticly looked around the deck. He made a quick study of Captain Powers who had unstrapped herself but was holding her head and neck as if it was in pain. This made Biff aware of his aching neck as he messaged it. He looked menacingly at T.E. Scope who slowly looked away from his stair as he turned his attention onto Captain Powers beside him. Then Beastman saw the unconscious state of Marlena Glenn. Beastman became aroused upon seeing Lieutenant Glenns unfavorable condition. Beastman leered at her frail neck bent on one side. Biff Beastman thought that he ought to help her as he gave a treacherous grin. So, Biff Beastman rushed over to Glenn, where he began to frantically sniff her thick dark red hair. Glenns fresh hair smell quickly replaced the acrid burning that awoke him. Though before Beastman could grope Glenn for her straps to unhook them a yell of, "get away from her!" Shot out behind him.
Beastman was apprehensive in stopping his urges to touch Glenn. To ravage her helpless body. His sexual urges had been suppressed for far too long.
"I won't repeat myself." Evilyn Morgan Powers said firmly.
As Beastman backed away, his arms still shook with perverse excitement.
"Take your medicine," Captain Powers said as she marched in-between Beastman and the unconscious Glenn. The stocky Captain Powers bent over Glenn to check for her pulse. In comparison to Glenns stark beauty. Evilyn Powers not only seemed twice her age despite them being exactly the same age, but their facial appearances were also markedly the opposite of each other. While Glenns eyebrows were pencil thin and arched, Powers were thick and square. Where Glenns had a dainty nose, high cheek bones and full lips. Evilyn Powers face was as flat as a plank of wood. She had a turned up piggish nose with a mole on it. Powers own mouth had an overbearing upper lip which showed little of her lower one. As unfortunate as it was, Captain Powers was not femininely attractive. For which she knew all too well.
"She's stable." Powers said as she finished checking Glenns pulse on both her neck and wrists.
T.E. Scope replied almost as if he didn't hear her," It is daytime on this planet. The world outside looks like a desert."
Biff Beastman was in the back of the ship looking for relief. He was told to take his medicine, the medicine that curbed his lust. The medicine that deadened his desires. Beastman rubbed at his face, he hated that ugly bitch! He would take his pouch, the pouch which held his medicine, but he would not take any of the medicine. At least not yet.
"I see that you have your medicine. Did you take any?"
Beastman heard the slow question that was posed to him from the tall T.E. Scope. An almost invisible nursemaid that Biff wanted to completly ignore.
"Yes!" Biff angrily lied, "What is it to you?"
"We need to place Lieutenant Glenn in her quarters until she recovers. I believe that the environment outside is safe to investigate. It is so safe that we may not have to be fully suited up. Isn't that amazing? Once Glenn is fully conscious, we can all venture outside to start collecting rock and soil samples."
Biff Beastman acidly replied, "Amaze-balls."
